What do your sessions consist of?

We run a range of different sessions, at the moment these include trail runs, outdoor workouts, and rucking.

 

How much do your sessions cost?

As it stands all of our group training sessions (rucks, runs and group fitness sessions) are free. All we ask you bring is some determination, a willingness to get involved and try new things, and a sense of humour.


What is rucking?

RUCK•ING [VERB] Carrying a weighted pack on your back. It implies action, energy, and purpose.

Rucking is the foundation of Special Forces training. Green Berets are well versed in shouldering heavy rucks through cities, mountains, jungles and deserts, in war and in peace -- alone when they must, together whenever possible. Rucking requires strength, endurance, and character -- and builds it, too.

Note: Hiking is rucking in the countryside, urban hiking is simply called rucking. Rucking can be done at any weight

What do I need to ruck?

To start with, just some comfortable shoes (trainers or walking shoes), clothes you are willing to workout in, and a ruck/daysack. In that we would recommend some water, snacks and 15-20lb in weight.

How do I get involved in a workout?

Check out our Facebook page, there are regular events posted on there for all of our outdoor workout, rucks and other events. Just hit attending, message us with any questions, and get involved!

 

How fit do I have to be to join you?

The Training Adventure accepts everyone from elite athletes to those still working their way off their couch.  While our programs are not targeted at individuals, we tailor and adaptwhat we are doing as much as we can for all levels of physical ability.  But whether you are preparing for an event or simply training with us to boost physical and mental fitness, the most important part of our training is having the right mindset, and being prepared to get involved to the best of your ability.


Where do you run your workouts?

At the moment our workouts are held in the parks around Southampton, in the New Forest and the South Downs. We ruck and run in all of these places as well, as well as along the Jurassic Coast, and up into the Brecon Beacons and Snowdonia in Wales.


Do you recommend any particular footwear for training and rucking.

What Ruck/Daysack do you recommend?

For shorter/single day rucks, we recommend a well built pack between the 20-30 litre size, with good shoulder straps, and the ability to hold the essentials. Personally we use either the GORUCK GR1 or Rucker packs or Inov8's larger running packs. For longer duration events, such as multiple day hikes along the coast or mountains, we recommend a standard surplus British Military Bergen, in either long or short back configuration, depending on your height.
